Jiang Yiren: World Expo Is A Society That Promotes Economic And Social Development.

On November 12, 2009, 170 days from the opening of World Expo, Shanghai, the Shanghai World Expo Bureau and the Shanghai archives jointly interviewed the former chairman of the CPPCC and Jiang Yiren, vice mayor of Shanghai.

As a deputy leader of the Shanghai Shen Bo leadership group, Jiang Yi Ren talked for more than an hour.

He first said that more than 100 years of history prove that World Expo has a huge role in promoting the country and region. Therefore, since 80s, successive governments in Shanghai have been considering hosting World Expo.

In 1999, the municipal government formally made the decision to bid and finally realized the dream of over 20 years.

From another point of view, it's time for Shanghai too.

Over the years, Shanghai has developed very well and has certain economic strength. Although there are still many gaps in many respects compared with the developed countries in the world, it is precisely because of this gap that there is a need.

Looking back today, the decision made 10 years ago is correct and forward-looking. It has added engines of development to the country and Shanghai.

Speaking of the difficulties in bidding for the World Expo, Jiang Yiren said that the biggest difficulty is lack of experience. However, our Shen Bo team will overcome all difficulties and go ahead without hesitation.

Specifically speaking, there are four spirits to ensure the success of bidding, the first is indomitable confidence, second is the intelligence of the atmosphere, third is the quality of pursuing excellence, and the fourth is the style of solidarity and cooperation.

In addition to "spirit", it is more important for the central and local governments at all levels to attach importance and strong leadership.

Jiang made a lot of vivid examples to prove these five factors.

Finally, Jiang Yiren talked about the value of World Expo.

He said that at present, the two most important things to talk about in World Expo are World Expo's own operation, and two, more importantly, giving full play to the driving effect of World Expo.

The spirit of World Expo is innovation. Shanghai World Expo has to innovate in new products, technology, culture, ecology, community and so on, so as to promote the overall development.

Especially at present, the world is facing the challenge of climate change. All countries attach great importance to low carbon and energy saving. We expect that a large number of green scientific and technological achievements will emerge in World Expo this year, which is more prominent than it was ten years ago.

Speaking of this, Jiang pointed out that we should strengthen and improve our propaganda, emphasize the connotation and historical role of World Expo, and stress that World Expo is a grand event to promote economic and cultural development, rather than simply allow everyone to participate. All walks of life should link World Expo with the development of the industry and its own work. What is beautiful, how to create beauty and how to be good forever? Everyone, especially the leading cadres, should have awareness raising and spiritual enhancement, and measures must be taken.

So publicity in this area is very important.
