Protective Coating Of New Material For Mask Will Kill New Crown Virus In A Few Seconds.
Currently, masks that protect doctors and nurses from new crown virus infection can only play a protective role, but researchers from University of Florida in the United States are developing a protective coating, including a new type of mask material, which can block and kill viruses in seconds.
Sudipta Seal, an engineer in materials science and Nanotechnology at University of Florida, and Seal Parks, a viral scientist, launched this project together with the support of the National Science Foundation of the United States of America (Seal).
Sier said that most of the current protective devices can only isolate viruses and do not catch and kill viruses. Therefore, I hope to make a nanostructured coating to kill the virus and further enhance the protective effect.
He first developed some nanostructures that could capture viruses, and then destroyed them with ultraviolet radiation, causing chemical reactions. If successful, the coating can be added to mask, gloves and protective clothing.
Subsequently, Parkes conducted a series of tests on these materials to determine which materials were effective, which viruses could kill and how fast they were effective. Parkes has found that certain materials have good effects on specific viruses, which also brings hope for the next step.
Parkes said that we have achieved initial success, and I believe this method will be useful for other potential epidemics and medical workers in various kinds of viruses and bacteria when caring for patients. This interdisciplinary approach may help the world cope with the epidemic.
